How doI remove the top of my lawnmower toreplace the pull string?

It's a Murray 3.5HP....20" blade bought in 2007. The attachments holding the top down are flat...not screws which I'd be able to simply screw off! I asked this yesterday but am waiting to see if some1 can explain how to remove the top part.
