Ecology question, university level.?

There are simply fewer individuals that can reproduce if the death rate is high. Only adults can reproduce. The ones still alive are naturally selected for the highest rates of reproduction. I'm afraid this is mostly an exercise in academic gibberish because the homework could have been igned in much clearer terms. Biologists should not act like lawyers when discussing their field of study.
