Is my shoulder injury due to a car accident?

Following a car accident where I was the penger (in the UK so on the left), my right shoulder has suddenly started hurting. Because the seat belt pes over the left shoulder would this be due to my collision or not? Surely the pain would be where the seatbelt was?
