Would you say it's difficult to write in the male POV?

I have to write a monologue for school on this book we read, and I decided to write it through the eyes of the main male character. Only thing is I have never attempted to write in the opposite 's point of view, so this would be the first time. I've heard from some people it's horrid, and some love it. Does it just depend on the write or is it actually really hard?
